BUENA VISTA, Va.- The Randolph men's volleyball team faced Southern Virginia for the second time this season as the WildCats and Knights faced off at Knight Arena on Tuesday night. SVU defeated the WildCats by the score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-14).

In the first set, the Knights got out to a 5-2 lead. SVU then used a 10-4 run to go ahead 15-7. Randolph would close the score to 15-9 but the Knights used a 10-3 run to break away and claim the set.

The WildCats scored the first point of the second set but the Knights eventually would go ahead 9-4. The score stood at 15-10 in SVU's favor when it rattled off five straight points to lead 20-10 on its way to a 25-17 set win.

The Knights had leads of 7-2 and 10-4 in the third set. Randolph could pull as close as six points as Southern Virginia was too much in the end as it claimed the set 25-14 to win the match.

Shamel Smith (Tamarac, Fla.) led the WildCats with five kills. Conner Maher (Buckeye, Ariz./Odyssey Institute) and Ian Arce (Sneads Ferry, N.C./Dixon HS) both had four assists each. Samuel Looney (Fort Worth, Texas/Trinity Valley HS) led in digs with four.

Randolph returns to its home floor on February 18 as it hosts Randolph-Macon in an ODAC match. The match starts at 7:00 p.m.
