Noel Powers to Second, Peters Sixth at Red Lady Open

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The women's wrestling team got back on the mat on Sunday as the team competed in the Red Lady Open hosted by Huntingdon College.

Stephanie Noel in the opening round defeated unattached opponent Brooke Freeman in a fall of 2:51 to advance to the quarterfinals where she defeated Huntingdon's Sakiya Winston with a quick fall of 1:30. In the semifinals Noel won 4-2 over Joy Jackson of Schreiner University. She picked up second place in the 138-weight class after being defeated by Mount Olive's Kalyse Hill in the championship final.

Randolph's other placer was LJ Peters in the 207-weight class in which she placed sixth. Peters in the opening round defeated Huntingdon's Nomaneta Iopu in a fall of 2:17. In the quarterfinal, she lost by fall in 1:32 to Mount Olive's Andrea Smith. She then defeated her teammate, Miki Ozueh by tech fall in round 2 of the consolation bracket. Peters won by a decision of 6-5 over Daniella Jenkins of Montreat to move to the semifinal consolation bracket. She took the loss to Zaria Robinson of Mount Olive to go on and compete in the 5th-place bracket, but took sixth place after being defeated by Montreat's Emilia Hill.

The WildCats will travel to Southern Virginia on Saturday for the SVU Invitational.
