LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's wrestling team earned a 30-14 dual victory over Marymount University on Saturday afternoon.
The WildCats started the match with momentum at 103 as
Chloe Simmons defeated Nicole Barahona Rios, earning a technical fall (13-2). The 110 bout was a double forfeit before adding to their lead at 117 when
Ayden Schultz was declared the winner over Madison Adcock due to injury.
Brigman secured a forfeit victory at 124. Marymount answered back in the middle weights. At 131, Ingrid Penn edged
Marielle Hirkala in a close 7-5 decision. The Saints followed with another win at 138 as Alyssa Landrum pinned
Jaden Kopalchick.
Randolph responded with a strong stretch in the upper weights.
Anella Fabriziani (145) and Miazion Warren (160) each picked up forfeit victories, and
Sophia Butler delivered a key highlight at 180, pinning Nicolle Ayala Mata at 5:01 to extend the WildCats' advantage.
Marymount claimed the final official bout at 207 as Katianna Martinez earned a fall over
LJ Peters.
The 'Cats will return to the mat on Feb 7-8 for the Quad Cities D3 Invitational in Rock Island, IL, with a scheduled start time of 2 p.m.
