Women's Track & Field Competes at Bast-Cregger Invite

SALEM, Va. - The Randolph College women's track and field team competed at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Friday and Saturday in Salem, Va., highlighted by multiple personal records and strong performances across the sprints and field events.

Renya Russell led the way in the 60-meter dash, qualifying for the finals after running a personal-best time of 8.02 seconds in the prelims. She followed that with an 8.04 in the semifinals before placing sixth overall in the finals with a time of 8.08.

Tatianna Langston also advanced through the early rounds of the 60-meter dash, recording a season-best 8.37 in the preliminaries and an 8.42 in the semifinals. Langston later competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 28.98 seconds.

Shaniya Owens posted a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a 10.85 in the preliminaries. Owens also turned in solid performances in the 200 meters (29.55) and the 400 meters, where she finished with a time of 1:09.53.

Madison Somerville competed in both the 200 and 400 meters, running 30.49 in the 200 and finishing in the 400 with a time of 1:10.54. Tyana Ayres added a 30.91 performance in the 200 meters.

In the field events, Kai Pegram represented Randolph in the long jump, placing 20th overall with a leap of 4.14 meters (13-07). Pegram also competed in the triple jump and finished with a mark of 9.11 meters (29-10.75).

The WildCats are back on the track on Feb. 6 when they travel to the VMI Winter Relays (Multis) on Feb. 6-7.
