Balint Places Sixth at Jim Crytzer Invite

Tyler Balint placed sixth for the WildCats

LEXINGTON, Va.- The Randolph men's wrestling team returned to the mat on Saturday as the team competed at the Jim Crytzer invite hosted by Washington and Lee University.

Tyler Balint (Harrisonburg, Va./Turner Ashby HS) scored seven points for the WildCats at the 184-weight class. After receiving a bye in the first round, Balint lost by decision to Marymount's Jullian Schott. He then defeated McDaniel's Soren Wynn by decision and won by fall in the third round of the consolation bracket. Balint lost to Omori Lee from Greensboro by decision in the consolation semifinals.

Theodore Piluso (Troutville, Va./Lord Botetourt) tallied three points at the 165-weight class. He scored a major decision win over Nicholas Menjivar from Greensboro 11-2.

Matthew Garland (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage) won by a 13-10 decision against Joshua Wong of Marymount in the 157-weight division.

Adon Overstreet (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage) won by decision over Victor Dixon from Marymount at 149 in the consolation second round.

Gabriel Wade (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County HS) won by major decision in the consolation second round of the 197-weight class over Cody Freer from Marymount 13-4.

Randolph travels to Southern Virginia on January 14 for a dual match. Start time is at 7:00 p.m.
