LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's track and field team made the short trip to Liberty University for the Liberty Open.
Jessica Taylor and
Renya Russell paced the WildCats in the 60m prelims, each clocking an 8.22, while
Tatianna Langston followed closely at 8.54.
Brooklyn Brooks (8.61) and
Tyana Ayres (8.99) added solid performances to round out the event. In the 60m hurdles,
Shaniya Owens recorded an 11.41 in the prelims.
Taylor in a competitive field posted a season-best of 58.95 in th 400-meter dash, and that time is a new Division III #40.
Madison Somerville clocked a new personal best of 1:08.23, and Owens came in at 1:11.04.
In the 200 meters, Taylor led the way with 25.98 for a personal best and school record. Russell was behind with a 27.38. Langston posted a season-best of 28.20, Owens had a personal best of 29.52, Ayres also had a personal best of 30.32, and rounding out the group is Somerville with a 30.43.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Russell, Somerville, Langston, and Taylor came in at 4:25.66.
In the field,
Kai Pegram made her debut in the triple jump with a 9.25-meter jump (30-04.25).
The team will travel back to Salem, Va., for the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Jan. 30-31.
