LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's basketball team hosted Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday evening. The Tigers won by the score of 97-61.
A jumper by
Khalil Caple (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork HS) followed by a layup less than 30 seconds later gave the WildCats a 4-2 lead early in the first half. From there, a 16-2 Hampden-Sydney run put the Tigers on top 18-6 at the 15:20 mark. Randolph closed to within eight points, 18-10, at 14:19. The score stood at 23-14 Hampden-Sydney with 11:08 remaining in the half. The Tigers' 18-4 run put them on top of Randolph 41-18 with 3:41 showing on the clock. HS-C would lead 46-28 at the break.
The Tigers got out to a 16-2 in the second half to take a 62-30 lead. Hampden-Sydney had a comfortable lead for the remainder of the period.
Aveion Tucker (Newport News, Va./Woodside HS) led the WildCats with 15 points, dished out three assists, and pulled down three rebounds.
Randolph hosts #5 Randolph-Macon on Friday. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
