Overstreet Places First at Builder Invitational

Adon Overstreet placed first in the 149-weight class

NEWPORT NEWS, VA.- The Randolph men's wrestling team competed at the Builder Invitational hosted by the Apprentice School on Saturday. The WildCats totaled 39 points to finish 12th out of 18 teams.

Adon Overstreet (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage HS) placed first in the 149-weight class and finished with 18 points to lead the 'Cats. After receiving a bye in the Championship First Round, Overstreet won his second round match by fall over Eduard Breso from East Carolina University. He then won in sudden victory over Andrew Brevot from RPI in the Quarterfinals, won by decision over Amari Williams from Apprentice, and then won by decision in the 1st place match over Kenneth Lambert from Clemson.

Adrian Fox (Forest City, N.C./Chase HS) scored 9.5 points for Randolph at the 141-weight class. He had a pair of tech fall wins in the Consolation Rounds and then fell in the consolation semifinals to Benjamin McComas from Davis & Elkins. Fox lost in the fifth-place match to Braden Crawford from Ferrum.

Gabriel Wade (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County HS) had 4.5 points at 197. He won by fall in the First Round over Ethan Han from RPI. His other win came in the Consolation Second Round as he scored a major decision over Braxton Slack from ECU.

Zak Gurban (Dumfries, Va.) had a major decision victory over Thomas Clark from Apprentice in the 133-weight class as did Jackson Radlitz (Centerville, Va./Westfield HS) in the first round of his 141 match against Bronson Branch from RPI. Matthew Garland (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage HS) had a decision win over William Vile from West Virginia Tech at 157.

Randolph will host Greensboro in a ODAC dual match on Thursday. The match will start at 7:00 p.m.
