LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College men's swimming team hosted their final home meet of the season as they honored their seniors and swept the meet with wins. The WildCats defeated Greensboro 201-27 and Hampden-Sydney 188-38.
Milo Fagan,
Josh Vogl,
Channing Scott, and
Solomon Lewis kicked started the meet with a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.03.Â
Evan Shopbell posted a first place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 18:10.47 followed by teammate
Marshall Howard in 19:09.45. The 200 yard free saw only three WildCats with Lewis on top in 2:07.89 followed by
Will Perrow in 2:22.60 and
Conner Fulcher in 2:45.47.
In the 50 yard back, Howard came in second at 27.52,
Aiden Tuck in third at 30.39 and Mason Willams in 38.40. In the 50 yard breaststroke
Ben Hiss took first in 29.29, Fagan was right behind in 30.66 and Fulcher came in at 38.61.
Shopbell claimed another first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 56.95. Scott came close behind in 58.85 and Tuck came in at 1:05.23. Vogl was the runner-up in the 50 yard free in 23.03 and Hiss placed third in 24.35.
It was a top-three finish in the 100 yard free with Vogl in front at 51.27, Fagan in 51.30 and Howard in 53.48. Tuck and Williams were the lone swimmers in the 100 yard back with Tuck first in 1:07.69 and Williams in 1:25.42.
Vogl came out on top in the 100 yard breaststroke in a Randolph only race. He finished with a time of 1:11.76, Scott came in at 1:15.81, and Perrow in 1:21.83.
In the 500 yard free, Shopbell posted another first place finish in 5:16.96. Fulcher came third in 7:09.27 and Williams came in at 7:14.65. Lewis and Perrow competed in the 50 yard butterfly and posted times of 27.42 and 30.51.
Fagan came out on top in the 100 yard IM in 1:00.05 followed by Hiss in 1:02.27 and Scott in 1:02.40.Â
Closing out the meet was the 200 yard free relay teams with Tuck, Lewis, Hiss, and Shopbell coming first at 1:38.36 and the B squad placing third in 1:51.93 consisting of Howard, Fulcher, Perrow, and Williams.
The WildCats will head to Randolph-Macon to close out the regular season on Jan. 24 at noon.
