SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team competed in its first fall competition on Saturday at the Battle of the Blue Ridge. Sweet Briar hosted the event that also included Lynchburg, Shenandoah, and Guilford.

The WildCats had a pair of victories in the singles portion. Amy Rigg (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) won her match against Erin Talko of Shenandoah 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8). Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) won her match against Lynchburg's Reese McAtee 6-2, 6-3.

Natalie Thompson (Rutherfordton, N.C./Polk County HS) played a pro set against Guilford's Amy Soto and fell 8-5.

One notable doubles match featured Rachel Combs (Benbrook, Texas/Homeschool) and Rigg. The pair lost a close match to Kayla Kosiorek and Isadora Lima from Lynchburg 6-4.
