Men’s Wrestling Competes at NCAA Regionals

Justin Porter is currently in eighth place after Day 1
DANVILLE, Va.- The Randolph men's wrestling team competed on the first day of NCAA Regionals held at Averett on Friday. The WildCats totaled 11 points.

In the 125-weight class, Justin Porter (Lynchburg, Va.) is currently in eighth place as he scored 6.5 points. In the First Round, Porter won by a 10-3 decision over Aidan Carone from Mount Union. Porter then lost by tech fall to Mason Averett from Averett in the quarterfinals. He rounded out his day with a takedown on Michael Cruz from Washington and Jefferson in 2:38.

Zak Gurban (Dumfries, Va.) scored two points at 133. He had a tech fall in the first round of consolation against Francisco Ramirez from Southern Virginia.
Adon Overstreet (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage HS) tallied two points in the 141-weight class. He had a tech fall against Braxton Ankrom from Wilmington in the First Round of consolation.

Austin Frazier (Bath, N.C./Northside HS) secured half a point in the 174-weight class. He won by a 7-0 decision over John Starusko of Washington and Jefferson.
