LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's basketball team hosted #4 Randolph-Macon on Saturday at Giles Gymnasium. It was the final regular season finale and also Senior Day. The Yellow Jackets defeated the WildCats 109-54.
The WildCats started the scoring in the first period as Landon Wagoner (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle School) connected on a three just over a minute into the contest. Both teams would match each other's intensity to start as there were three ties within a span of one minute of game time. Randolph trailed 18-17 at 13:06. The Yellow Jackets went on an 8-0 run to jump ahead 26-17. The 'Cats would close to within five points, 26-21, at 9:16. Randolph-Macon would go to outscore Randolph 21-12 down the stretch to lead 47-33 at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets broke the game open in the second half as they outscored the WildCats 62-21. Randolph was just 7-of-28 (25%) from the floor in the second period and did not make a three-point basket.
Wagoner led Randolph with 10 points. Rayvon Graham (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) added nine points and four assists. Moustapha Diop (Fuquay Varina, N.C./Apex Friendship) finished with eight points.
The team recognized its three seniors and three graduate students who were playing in their final game. They were Wagoner, Graham, Jordan Phillips-McLoyd (Johnson City, Tenn./Science Hill), Evan Wiehe (Cleveland, OH/Nordonia), Cole Perry(Salisbury, N.C./Jesse Carson HS), and Ryan Viruso (Davidson, N.C./Hough HS).
Randolph ends the season with a final overall record of 9-16 and 3-13 in the ODAC.
