Taylor, Frayser Lead Women's T&F at Liberty Kickoff Open

Jessica Taylor sets two indoor school records in the 200m and 400m dash.
LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's track and field team opened its 2025-26 indoor season with several strong performances at the Liberty Kickoff Open on Saturday, highlighted by two top-eight finishes against a large NCAA field.

Junior Jessica Taylor delivered one of the WildCats' top results of the day, placing eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 59.61 for a new school record and personal best indoors. Taylor also competed in the 60m dash, clocking 8.05 in prelims for a personal best, and later ran 26.40 seconds in a competitive 200m field for another school record and personal best indoors.

Sophomore Ryleigh Frayser notched the team's other top-eight finish, placing seventh overall in the 800m after crossing the line in 2:34.78.

In her season debut, sophomore Shaniya Owens competed in three events, opening with an 11.38-second run in the 60m hurdles prelims. Owens also posted times of 1:09.03 in the 400m and 29.87 seconds in the 200m.

First-year Tyana Ayres made her collegiate debut in the sprints, recording 8.98 seconds in the 60m dash prelims and 31.25 seconds in her first 200m race as a WildCat.

The WildCats are back on the track in the new year on Jan. 9 at the The Burg Open hosted by University of Lynchburg at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
