GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Randolph College men's swimming team traveled down to Greensboro for a double dual meet against Greensboro College and Columbia College (S.C.) on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats swept the meet with a 177-77 win over the Pride and a 163-64 win over the Koalas.
The 200-yard medley relay teams got the meet off to a great start finishing first and second. The A team of
Ben Hiss,
Milo Fagan,
Evan Shopbell, and
Solomon Lewis swam a time of 1:48.79 and the B team of
Marshall Howard,
Channing Scott,
Aiden Tuck, and
Josh Vogl swam a time of 1:51.73.
Hiss finished over a minute ahead of the swimmer in second-place in 11:19.38. Connor Fulcher competed and finished third in 15:07.27. Fagan swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard free in 1:58.16 and
Mason Williams got fourth in 2:32.51.
Howard placed second in 59.72 and Tuck followed in third in 1:08.45 in the 100-yard back. Vogl finished in 1:07.83, six seconds ahead of the next swimmer, in the 100-yard breast.
Will Perrow got third in 1:19.56.
In the 200-yard fly, Shopbell was the lone swimmer in the event in 2:11.18. Fagan (23.70) and Scott (24.25) claimed the top-2 positions in the 50-yard free. Lewis got first-place in the 100-yard free in a fairly close race with a time of 55.45. Williams followed in fourth with a time of 1:09.38.
Howard claimed another first-place finish in the 200-yard back in 2:11.68. Tuck got third in a time of 2:31.74. Shopbell added another first-place finish as well in the 200-yard breast in 2:29.18 and Perrow followed suit in 2:53.18.
In the 500-yard free, Scott finished ahead of the competition in 5:48.89, just over a minute in front of the next swimmer, for first place. Fulcher finished in third in 7:17.84. Lewis, sole Randolph swimmer in the 100-yard fly, came out on top in 1:03.92.
In the 200-yard IM, Hiss was first in 2:06.20 and Vogl was second in 2:18.20. Closing out the meet was the 200-yard free relay, in which the A team (Shopbell, Scott, Vogl, and Fagan) got first place in 1:37.58 and the B team in 1:51.76 for third place.
The WildCats are back in the pool when the team travels to Hampton, Va. for the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon from Nov. 21-23.
