LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College women's wrestling team opened their season with a sweep at home. The WildCats claimed a hard-fought 27-21 dual win over Bethany College and a 43-6 dual win over Liberty University Women's Wrestling Club team.

The WildCats opened strong with Chloe Simmons setting the tone at 103-weight class, earning a 12-0 tech fall in just 1:18 over Ava Paul. Alanna Jennings followed with a 11-6 tough victory over Ashley Campbell at the 110-weight class to help extend Randoph's lead.

At the 117-weight class, Kylie Brigman got the victory over Angelina Watson with a 12-2 tech fall in 4:44 minutes. The Bisons responded with back-to-back wins at 124 (Taelor Rae Busch over Ayden Schultz), 131 (Rosemary Dodd over Marielle Hirkala), and 138 (Ari Tyson over Anella Fabriziani) to close the gap.

The 'Cats regained control in the 145-weight class, in which Stephanie Noel secured a pin in 4:18 over Peyton Gauss. In the 160-weight class, Bethany's Jasmine Craddock got the victory over Miazion Warren. 

However, Randolph closed out the match in commanding fashion with Emily Riopel recording a pin in just 37 seconds over Chase Marie Ryan in the 180-weight class, and LJ Peters followed with a fall over Trinity Barrus in 109 at the 207-weight class to seal the victory.

Randolph jumped ahead early as Simmons and Jennings each earned forfeit wins at 103 and 110. Brigman wasted no time at 117, pinning her opponent, Julia Silva, in just 33 seconds.

At 124, Schultz got the win over Aurora Pennington with a fall at 1:51. Liberty's June Welch took the win in 2:27 over Marielle Hirkala at 131. Jaden Kopalchick secured another forfeit victory at 138.

Noel continued her consistency at 145, earning an 11-2 decision over Amanda Walker, followed by Warren adding a pin in 2:07 over Chloe Roland at 160. Riopel continued the WildCats' momentum with a fall in 1:35 at 180 over Faith Kiefer, and LJ Peters capped off the night with a forfeit win at 207.


Randolph opens the season 2-0 and looks to push that momentum as the team prepares for The Strong & Courageous Dual Tournament hosted by Liberty University Women's Wrestling Club team on Nov. 15.
