WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Randolph College women's wrestling team made the trip up to Westminster, MD., for a tri-match with the host school McDaniel College and Cedar Crest College. The WildCats dropped both duals, 16-34 against Cedar Crest and 14-34 against McDaniel.
VS CEDAR CREST
Chloe Simmons opened the match with momentum at 103 , where she earned a dominant fall over Mary Lopes in just 1:10, giving the WildCats an early 5-0 lead. The Falcons answered quickly, benefiting from forfeits at 110 and 117 before extending their advantage with Andi Bibeau winning by tech fall over
Ayden Schultz at 124 and Madacyn Snyder got the pin over Jaden Kolpachick at 131.
After another forfeit at 138 pushed the deficit to 24-6, Randolph fought back with two strong performances. At 145 pounds,
Stephanie Noel secured a fall over Maddie Stultz at 2:32, followed by
Emily Riopel, who delivered a first-period pin over Drayden Charman at 160 in 1:57, trimming the Cedar Crest lead to 24-16.
Cedar Crest, however, closed the match with back-to-back falls. At 180, Janeyda Ortiz of Cedar Crest got the win over
Sophia Butler in a fall of 2:11and Sarah Seltzer of Cedar Crest got the win over L.J. Peters at 207 to seal the 34-16 final.
In exhibition action,
Jenna Moening competed at 160 but was defeated by fall against Symarah Drey in 1:58.
VS MCDANIEL
Randolph opened the dual with Simmons once again, this time earning an uncontested win at 103 to give the WildCats an early lead. McDaniel, however, responded with a trio of points from forfeits at 110, 117, and 138 pounds, along with two early victories at 124 and 131.
At 124, Schultz was caught early in a fall against Alize Franze of McDaniel, while Kopalchick fell by tech fall at 131 against Madison Rich as McDaniel took a 19-5 lead.
The WildCats answered back in a big way in the middle weights. At 145, Noel got the tech fall victory over Taylor Mead to close the score 19-9. Randolph continued to rally when Riopel followed with a pin at 160 over Lena Black, finishing her match in just 2:01 to bring Randolph back within striking distance, 19-14.
McDaniel closed out the dual with two straight wins, securing falls at 180 with Butler falling in 1:44 to Morgan Linton and 207 with
Miki Ozueh falling in 59 seconds to Kaia Condon to hold for the team victory for the Green Terror.
Up next, the WildCats return home after the Thanksgiving break for a dual match against Southern Virginia on Dec 6, 5 p.m. in Giles Gymnasium.
