HAMPTON, Va. - The Randolph College men's swimming team wrapped up a three-day competition at the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Invitational on Sunday evening at the Hampton Aquaplex.
The WildCats finished with 170 team points to place seventh overall.
Individual Highlights
- Evan Shopbell swam into the 500 Free finals and clocked a 4:53.57. Shopbell placed 11th in the 400 IM finishing with a time of 4:16.65 in the finals. In the 1650 Free, Shopbell dropped the previous school record by over a minute, finishing with a time of 16:41.71 for sixth-place finish.
- In the 200 Yard IM, Ben Hiss earned a finals spot and swam a finals time of 2:05.38. He got a top-20 finish in the 100 Fly going 54.57 for 19th-place. Hiss, in the 100 breaststroke, finished in the top-10 with a time of 59.53.
- Josh Vogl, in the 50 Free finals, swam a time of 22.75. Channing Scott clocked a 55.46 in the 100 Fly finals. Marshall Howard swam a 57.83 and Aiden Tuck swam a 1:06.05 in the 100 back.Â
- Howard got a top-20 finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.68 for an 14th-place finish and a school record. Tuck also swam in the event and finished with a time of 2:23.29.
Relay Highlights
- The 200 Free relay team of Milo Fagan, Hiss, Vogl, and Shopbell earned a top-10 finish with a time of 1:29.90.
- The 400 Medley relay team of Howard, Hiss, Shopbell, and Fagan finished in 3:45.30, earning an 11th-place and 14 points for the team.
- In the same event, Tuck, William Perrow, Scott, and Solomon Lewis earned a 14th-place finish with a time of 4:12.83.
- The 200 Medley team of Howard, Hiss, Scott, and Vogl claimed 12th-place in 1:41.75 for 14 team points.
- For the same event, Tuck, Perrow, Lewis, and Conner Fulcher finished 14th in 1:59.26 for 10 team points.Â
- The 800 Free Relay team, consisting of Shopbell, Vogl, Hiss, Fagan finished eighth with a time of 7:22.81.
- The 400 free relay team of Shopbell, Vogl, Howard, and Fagan got a 12th-place finish overall with a time of 3:22.16. For the same event, Lewis, Tuck, Scott, and Perrow placed 14th with a time of 3:44.70.
The WildCats will return to the pool in the new year on Jan. 17 for Senior Day in the Bateman Aquatic Center at noon.
