Men’s Tennis Wraps Up at ITA Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.- Members of the Randolph men's tennis team concluded their play at the ITA Regionals held at the University of Mary Washington on Saturday.

In the Championships Doubles Round of 16, Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain/Callywith College) and Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) fell in a tiebreaker 8-7 to Mukundth Boopathi and Joshua Kim from Johns Hopkins. In the B1 doubles semifinals, Vincenzo Marchese and Carlos Haupt (Weston, Fla./FLVS) lost 8-5 to Aarush Kumar and Chaitanya Krishna from Haverford. Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) and Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Oslo, Norway) fell to Jonathon Fogle and Salde Funderburk from Hampden-Sydney 8-5 in the B2 Doubles Final.

In the singles portion, Marchese defeated Gunek Singh from Marymount 8-1 in the B2 Singles Quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he dropped an 8-5 decision to Zachary Milano from Haverford.

Mulner defeated Justin Ilie from Washington and Lee 8-5 in the Championship Singles Consolation Quarterfinal. He lost in the semifinals 8-0 to LalithAditya Suresh from Swarthmore.
