FREDERICKSBURG, Va.- Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall/Great Britain Callywith College) and Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) from the Randolph men's tennis team competed in singles play on the first day of matches at the ITA Regionals hosted by Mary Washington,
Martin faced fellow ODAC rival Artem Babaiev from Shenandoah. Martin won 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the Round of 32 on Friday. He will go up against Max-William Kanz from Stevens Institute of Technology starting at 11:30 a.m.
Mulner dropped his match to Johns Hopkins' Chakor Sankaran-Rajendra 6-1, 6-1. He will move to the Consolation Round and will face Aarush Kumar from Haverford at 2:00 p.m.
Doubles play starts tomorrow. Mulner and Martin will play the Eagles' Rithnik Manchala and Keldibek Kozhoev at 8:00 a.m. Vincenzo Marchese and Carlos Haupt (Weston, Fla./FLVS) will take on Petter Storberg and Jorge Urgal from Washington College starting at 8:45 am. Jason Duval (Kingston, Jamaica) and Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Oslo, Norway) play Shayaan Farhad and Joey Kelly from Moravian at 8:00 am.
Marchese will also play a singles match at 11:30 am against Dhaivik Chenemilla of Stevens.
