Porter Places Third at Jim Crytzer Invitational

Justin Porter came in third place in the 125-weight class

LEXINGTON, Va.- The Randolph men's wrestling team competed at the Jim Crytzer Invitational hosted by Washington and Lee on Saturday. The WildCats totaled 33 points to finish in 10th place.

Justin Porter (Lynchburg, Va.) scored 18 of Randolph's points as he finished third in the 125-weight class. Porter started his day with loss to the Generals' Tony Urso by fall. From there, Porter secured five straight wins. He won by tech fall over Ajay Pai of Washington and Jefferson and then took down W&J's Holden DuBois. Porter brought down McDaniel's Cody Johnson in under one minute. He won by tech fall over Brock Blankenhorn from Ohio Northern. In the third-place match, Porter won by decision over Roanoke's Samiel Aponte 18-14.

Zak Gurban (Dumfries, Va.) came in fifth in the 133-weight class. In the quarterfinals, he won by medical forfeit over W&L's Calvin Wiedemer. Gurban lost in the semifinals to William Conley from McDaniel by decision and then fell in the consolation semifinals by a technical fall. Gurban won by forfeit over Vincent Ziccardi in the fifth-place match.

Adon Overstreet (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage HS) won his opening round match against Richie Kulessa from Southern Virginia by a 6-2 decision in the 141-weight class.

Randolph hosts Roanoke on Tuesday at Giles Gymnasium. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
