Women's Swimming Claims Dual Victories Over WPU & Sweet Briar

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Randolph women's swimming team delivered an outstanding performance at their home meet, earning two dominant victories. The WildCats triumphed 104-80 over William Peace and 126-50 over Sweet Briar.

Opening the day was the WildCats 200-yard medley relay taking first place over the Pacers and swimming a time of 2:04.33. Katie Scifres and Maddie Dyl claimed first and second place in 1650-yard free. Scifres had a time of 21:38.41 and Dyl had a time of 23:30.16. In the 200-yard free, Kaitlyn Heckman finished as the runner-up in 2:15.93 and Katya Zaitsev followed in third with a time of 2:23.02. 

For the 50-yard free, Taylor Eshelman swam a 26.85 for second place, and teammate, Morgan Flamm, finished fifth with a time of 27.50 for a personal best. Katelyn Spuchesi (5:11.94) for first and Scifres (5:59.80) for second in the 400-yard IM. Flamm was the winner of the 100-yard fly in 1:12.94 and Kai Miller finished third in 1:20.74. 

Spuchesi claimed another first-place finish in the 100-yard free in 58.13 and Reaghan Quinn claimed third with a time of 1:04.41. Heckman added to her top-3 finishes with a top finish in the 100-yard back with a personal best of 1:07.74. Miller also competed and placed fourth overall with a time of 1:20.73. A third-place finish for Zaitsev in the 500-yard free (6:20.33) and a fourth-place finish for Dyl in 6:48.61. 

Randolph took third, fourth, and fifth place in the 100-yard breast; Eshelman (1:20.44), Quinn (1:27.07), and Dyl (1:34.56). Rounding out the day, the 'Cats took third in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 2:02.66.

The WildCats are back in action on Saturday when they host Randolph-Macon for a dual meet at noon.
