LYNCHBURG, Va.- Shirell Washington has been named the new Assistant Sports Information Director at Randolph.

Washington is a 2023 graduate of fellow ODAC institution Virginia Wesleyan where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Recreation Management and minored in Communications. She was a member of the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field team where she was named to the Indoor Second Team in 2022 and Outdoor Third Team in 2023.

Washington was recently a visual journalist/photographer for Cronkite News in Phoenix, Az. While in Phoenix, she attended Arizona State University and obtained her Master of Arts in Sports Journalism Prior to that, she was an intern with Old Dominion University for a semester in 2023 and a student worker/Athletic Director Intern.

"I am pleased to welcome Shirell to Randolph," said Sports Information Director David Heberger. "Her skills and experience stood out and I look forward to working with her to help promote our 20 sports and our student-athletes."
