DANVILLE, VA.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team played its final regular season game of the season on Wednesday afternoon as it faced Averett. The Cougars defeated the WildCats 18-3.
Averett led 2-0 near the midway point of the first quarter. Randolph scored with 6:49 left in period on a solo shot by Mackenzie Woodson (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate).
The Cougars scored eight straight times to go ahead 10-1 with just under six minutes left in the second quarter. Woodson scored her second goal of the game with 1:41 remaining in the second quarter. Maddie Friel (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) scored Randolph's third goal.
Woodson won two draws in the game. Quinn Hooper (Smithfield, Va./Isle of Wight Academy) picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Mireya Norville (Sunrise, Fla./South Plantation) stopped nine shots in goal. She picked up five groundballs and caused one turnover.
