Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team played a non-conference match against Mary Baldwin on Friday. The WildCats defeated the Fighting Squirrels 9-0.

With the win, Randolph improves to 9-6 overall. Mary Baldwin falls to 1-11.

Both second and third doubles were 8-0 wins in the WildCats' favor. Jacob Martin and Ondra Pelda (Prague, Czech Republic) dropped just one game against the duo of Eric Leyton and Brandon Dewald and were victorious 8-1.

Martin defeated Leyton 6-2, 6-2 at first singles. Jason Duval won at second singles 6-2, 6-1 over Reyes.  Dev Mani (Bangladore, India/St. Claret PU College) was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at third singles. Nate Quisbert (Annadale, Va.) won 6-2, 6-1 over Adrian Reyes at fourth singles. Luis Cobos (Edinburg, Texas) won at fifth singles as he defeated Solomon Hines 6-3, 6-0. Ashton Forte (Bedford, Va.) won his first career match with a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Brandon Kincaid at sixth singles.

Randolph is back in action on Monday afternoon when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan. The match starts at 3:00 p.m.
