BREVARD, N.C. - Randolph College Men's Basketball opened the season with an electrifying 101-93 overtime victory over Brevard College, securing a strong start to their campaign. The WildCats fought back from a halftime deficit to outscore Brevard 48-41 in the second half, pushing the game into overtime, where they ultimately pulled ahead with a 17-9 advantage.
Leading the charge was
Jordan Phillips-McLoyd, who recorded a game-high 38 points to tie the school record for most points in a single game, shooting an impressive 11-16 from the field and a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line. Phillips-McLoyd's contributions extended to the boards, where he grabbed eight rebounds and added two steals.
Landon Wagoner dominated the paint, securing a double-double with 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. He shot 8-14 from the floor and was reliable from the charity stripe, hitting 8-9 free throws.
Amari Gorham also played a key role, scoring 15 points and adding five rebounds.
Evan Wiehe contributed 12 points, hitting two critical three-pointers and going 6-7 from the line, while
Cole Perry added defensive intensity with three assists and two rebounds.
The WildCats shot 49.2% from the field and an impressive 94.1% from the free-throw line, capitalizing on their opportunities at the line. They scored 46 points in the paint and forced 18 turnovers, which led to 24 points off turnovers.
The 'Cats return to the court when the team travels to Methodist University on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
