Women’s Swimming Dominates Hollins, Battles Bridgewater in Home Meet

LYNCHBURG, Va. - In a home meet full of impressive swims, the Randolph College women's swim team secured a decisive 169.5-80.5 victory over Hollins University but fell to Bridgewater College, 63-192.

Katie Scifres set the tone in distance events, finishing 3rd in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:43.54. In the 200-yard freestyle, Katelyn Spuchesi earned 2nd place, posting a strong 2:08.58.

In shorter events, Taylor Eshelman claimed 3rd in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.61), while Kaitlyn Heckman was a dual threat, taking 3rd in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.27) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.40). Morgan Flamm added another 3rd place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 28.36. Eshelman also took 3rd in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Heckman again scored in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.03.

Wrapping up the meet, Spuchesi and Scifres claimed 2nd and 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley with times of 2:26.37 and 2:45.16, respectively. 

The 'Cats are back in the water when they travel to the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Nov 22-24 at 2 p.m.
