Men’s Tennis Competes at Knapp Family Invitational

MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Randolph men's tennis competed at the Knapp Family Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer University on Saturday.

In the doubles portion, Jacob Martin (Wadebridge Cornwall, Great Britain Callywith College) and Ondra Pelda (Prague, Czech Republic) defeated John Billinis from Johnson and Wales 6-0. They would go on to face the duo of Andres Mercedes and Brandon Hermes where they fell by the score of 6-3.

Andreas Mulner (Brasnov, Romania) and Vincenzo Marchese won their doubles opener 6-3 over the pair of Emmanuel Oye and Austin Henry from Guilford. Mulner and Marchese then defeated Jayden Wellman Andres Valdez-Arce from Pfeiffer 6-2.

Lukas Rathgeb (Koln, Germany Apostelgymnasium) and Dev Mani (Bangalore, India St. Claret PU College won their doubles match 6-2 over Vante Rodgers and Cayden Danzer 6-2. Rathgeb and Mani then defeated Dylan Masters and Jan Prause from Guilford 6-4.

Jason Duval and Carlos Haupt (Westin, Fla./FLVS) lost their doubles match 7-5 to Bogdan Stan and Laurin Rauer from Pfeiffer.

In singles play, Martin won his first match 2-1 as Mercedes retired due to injury. Martin then went to knock off Wellman 7-6, 6-1.

Mulner won his lone singles match 6-4, 6-3 over Hermes. Pelda took care of Max Frederick 6-0, 6-1. He dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Valdez-Arce. Duval won his first match 6-3, 2-0 over Rylan Tuten due to injury. Duval was then bested by Bogdan Stan 6-3, 6-4.

Rathgeb won his match 6-2, 6-0 over Dylan Hight from Johnson and Wales and then lost to Oye 6-3, 7-5.
