Women's Swimming Competes in Tough Meet against Seahawks and Marlins

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Randolph women's swimming team traveled to St. Mary's College of Maryland for a tri-meet against the Seahawks and Virginia Wesleyan Marlins. The WildCats were defeated by the Seahawks 158-93 and the Marlins 161-88.

Katelyn Spuchesi had an all-round day with four top-3 finishes. Spuchesi finished 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle (2:10.56), was 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle (5:54.76), placed third in the 100 yard freestyle (59.05) and was part of the 200 yard medley relay A team to third place finish with a time of 2:03.65.

Lexee Schellhammer finished the day with three top-3 finishes. Schellhammer placed 3rd in the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.99), finished 2nd in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:28.76 and was part of the A team for the 200 yard medley relay with Spuchesi, Taylor Eshelman, and Morgan Flamm.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Kaitlyn Heckman, Katie Scifres, Katya Zaitsev, and Kyra Miller finished with a time of 1:44.97 to win the event for the WildCats.

Randolph hosts Hollins and Bridgewater on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
