LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team hosted Sweet Briar and Gallaudet on Saturday afternoon at the Bateman Aquatic Center. The WildCats won 187-47 over the Vixens and 186-40 over the Bison.
Katelyn Spuchesi (King George, Va./King George HS) and Taylor Eshelman (Huntersville, N.C./Hopewell) both won three events each to lead the WildCats. Spuchesi was first in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:13.80), 100-yard Freestyle (59.84), and 200 yard IM (2:29.37). Morgan Flamm placed second in the 200 IM with her time of 2:40.90. Eshleman took first place in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.54), 100-yard Breaststroke (1:18.18) and the 50-yard Butterfly (30.30). Kai Miller (Richmond, Va.) was second in the 50-yard Butterfly with a time of 35.31.
Kaitlyn Heckman touched the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle with her time of 12:20.51. Katie Scifres' (Colorado Springs, Colo.) time of 13:17.09 was good for second place. Heckman also won the 100-yard Butterfly in 1:08.61. Flamm was behind her in second place with her final time of 1:11.77.
Lexee Schellhammer (Edinburg, Va./Sherando HS) placed first in the 50-yard Backstroke with her time of 30.35. Miller's time of 37.05 was second-best. Schellhammer won the 100-yard Backstroke in 1:05.82. Heckman trailed her with a time of 1:10.86.
Scifres was first in the 500-yard Freestyle with her time of 6:26.30.
The 200-yard Medley Relay team of Schellhammer, Eshleman, Flamm, and Spuchesi won in 2:03.34. The 200-yard Freestyle relay team of Katya Zaitsev, Heckman, Scifres, and Miller posted a winning time of 2:01.10.
The WildCats will compete on October 26 at St. Mary's College of Maryland. They will face the host Seahawks and ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan starting at 1:00 p.m.
