GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph men's swimming team returned to the pool for the first time in 2024 as they faced off against Greensboro. The WildCats outscored the Pride 188-31.
The WildCats had several first-place results on the afternoon. Sam Hey (Black Mountain, N.C.) had two first place finishes. He touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:21.83. Daniel Allee (Alexandria, Va./Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School) was second with his time of 2:51.93. Hey was also first in the 100 yard fly with his time of 1:00.14. Ethan Mayfield (Evington, Va./Brookville) was behind him with his time of 1:02.13 and Bennett Goodman (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox Court House) in third place in 1:03.39.
Evan Shopbell (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) also came in first in two events. He finished the 100-yard freestyle in 52.79. Allee's time was 54.67 and Goodman 56.89. Shopbell placed first in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:22.03. Aiden Tuck (Lynchburg Va./Brookville) was second in a time of 5:57.93.
Ben Hiss (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) finished the 200-yard IM in 2:08.98. His time of 2:10.90 in the 200-yard backstroke was a first place finish. Tuck's time was 2:25.89.
Jackson Hunt posted a time of 23.67 in the 50-yard freestyle to come in first.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Tuck, Hey, Allee, and Shopbell swam a time of 1:49.53. Right behind them were the squad of Hiss, Mayfield, Hunt, and Solomon Lewis (Forest, Va./Brookville) had a time of 1:49.56. The 200 yard freestyle team of Goodman, Conner Fulcher, Lewis and Hunt posted a time of 1:50.05.
Randolph now prepares for the ODAC Championships which will be held next month in Greensboro.
