Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted its Fall Invitational on Saturday. The WildCats competed against fellow ODAC teams Lynchburg, Shenandoah, and Bridgewater along with non-conference opponent Pfeiffer.
A pair of doubles teams picked up wins. Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany) and Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) were 8-2 winners over Bridgewater's #1 doubles duo. Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) and Amanda Jagdeo (South Ozone Park, NY/Flushing HS) had an 8-3 victory in their match.
Kersten won her first singles match of the day 6-2, 6-3 against Shenandoah's Tanea Spruill. Her second match was a walkover win.
Cabrera won her singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Chelsey Drye from Pfeiffer.
There were a couple of close matches in singles play. Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) went to a super tiebreak in her match with Emma Pinola from Lynchburg. Whetzel fell 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8). Jagdeo's match against Pfeiffer's Delaney Geydan also went to three sets with Geydan winning 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9).
Randolph will face Washington and Lee in its final match of the fall on September 27 in Lexington starting at 3:00 p.m.
