LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team hosted Hampden-Sydney in the WildCats' home finale on Friday afternoon. The Tigers won the match by the score of 9-0.
In the doubles portion, second doubles went to a tiebreaker.
Dev Mani (Bangalore, India/St. Claret PU College) and
Angelo de Asis (Clayton, N.C./Cleveland HS) went up against Dillon McReynolds and Taylor Fox. Fox and McReynolds won 8-7.
Nicolas Alvarado (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) went to a super tiebreak against Barrett Foster at first singles. Alvarado won the first set 6-1 and Foster the second 7-6. The third set went to Foster 10-6. Mani also went to a super tiebreak in his second singles match against McReynolds. Mani won the first set 6-3 and McReynolds claimed the second set 6-0. He took the third set 10-4.
Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) was the last player on the court for the WildCats as he went up against John Glassner at fifth singles. Glassner won 6-2, 6-3.
Seniors Alvarado and Merhej were honored before the match. The two paired up at first doubles and lost to Foster and Coffey 8-2.
The WildCats conclude their season with a final record of 4-11 and 2-7 in the ODAC.
