HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team played its second and final match in Hilton Head on Thursday. The WildCats lost to Webster University 8-1.
In the doubles portion,
Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) and
Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) faced Maddie Mena and Bailee Pineda at third doubles.
It was a tightly contested match as Bell and Fink fell 8-7.
Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) and
Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) lost 8-6 at second doubles to Emma Ferguson and Kylie Chitwood.
Whetzel was the lone winner on the day as she defeated Bailey Higgins at third singles in a super tiebreaker 5-7, 6-0, 10-5.
Valentina Santos' (Valencia, Venezuela) first singles match went to a super tiebreaker but she dropped a 1-6, 6-2, 7-10 decision to Erin Brezovar. Fink lost to Chitwood 6-4, 6-2 at fourth singles.
Randolph travels to Mary Baldwin on Monday. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
