HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Randolph men's tennis team faced Webster University in its final match at Hilton Head on Thursday afternoon. The Gorlocks defeated the WildCats 8-1.
The second doubles match between the pair of
Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and
Angelo de Asis (Clayton, N.C./Cleveland HS) and the duo of Carson Fisher and Britton Struewing was decided by a difference of three games. Fisher and Struwing won 8-5.
Dev Mani (Bangalore, India/St. Claret PU College) won his second singles match over Fisher 6-3, 6-3.
Nicolas Alvarado (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) dropped the first set of his first singles match against Alex Pinkston 6-1 and then was edged out 7-6 in the second set. Merhej fell to Struewing 6-4, 6-2 at fifth singles.
Randolph travels to Mary Baldwin on Monday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
