Women’s Tennis Defeats Maryville 7-2

Gianna Cabrera won her first collegiate match at #6 singles
Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team hosted Maryville in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The WildCats came out on the winning end as they defeated the Scots 7-2.

Randolph took two of the three doubles matches. At #1 doubles, Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela) and Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) won 8-3 over the pair of Katelyn Cook and Eliza Cheshire. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) were 8-2 winners of Abby Smither and Mandy Webb 8-2.

Santos took down Cook 6-1, 6-3 at first singles. Dickerson defeated Diggs 6-4, 7-5 at second singles. Fink was a 6-4, 6-4 winner against Cheshire at fourth singles. Bell won her fifth singles match over Smither 6-1, 6-4. Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) held off Mandy Webb 6-3, 7-5 at sixth singles for her first collegiate win.

The WildCats take on Averett in and ODAC match on Wednesday in Danville. Start time is at 2:30 p.m.
