Men’s Tennis Falls to Maryville

Box Score Lynchburg, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team hosted Maryville in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The Scots defeated the WildCats 6-3.

There was a close battle at first doubles. Nicolas Alvarado (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) and Dev Mani (Bangalore, India/St. Claret PU College) took on Jackson Meyer and Jonathan Crane. The match went to a tiebreaker as Meyer and Crane edge out Alvarado and Mani 8-7.

First through third singles were all winners for the WildCats. Alvarado defeated Kyle Shaver 6-2, 6-2 at #1. Mani shut out Sam Cohhia 6-0, 6-0 at #2. Angelo de Asis (Clayton, N.C./Cleveland HS) needed a super tiebreaker in his #3 match against Crane. De Asis came out on top 3-6, 7-6, 10-5. The last match of the afternoon was at #5 between Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and Josh Fisher. The decision came in a super tiebreak as Merhej fell 6-7, 7-5, 10-7.

Randolph hosts Washington and Lee in an ODAC match on Wednesday. Match time is at 3:00 p.m.
