Men’s Lacrosse Drops 13-9 Decision to William Peace

Box Score RALEIGH, N.C.- The Randolph men 's lacrosse team made a Saturday afternoon trip to William Peace to take on the Pacers. The WildCats scored a couple of late goals in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Pacers won by the score of 13-9.

The two teams were scoreless until 3:37 remained in the first quarter as William Peace got on the scoreboard to make it a1-0 game. Randolph would tie it up less than a minute later as Ethan Caldwell (Santa Fe, N.M./Santa Fe Prep School) scored off an assist from Chase Callan (Fredericksburg, Va.). Both teams would score a goal each in the final minute of the period as the score was tied 2-2 at the conclusion.

The teams would exchange scores to start the second quarter. After the WildCats tied the game at 4-4 on a goal by Sean Landis (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) with 11:08 remaining in the period, Randolph took the lead at the 8:42 mark on a solo score by Caldwell. The WildCat lead did not last long as the Pacers answered seven seconds later to tie the score up again. They would pull ahead 6-5 with 7:25 left and the score remained that way at halftime.

William Peace pulled ahead 7-5 early in the third quarter. The 'Cats tallied a score with 10:16 left in the period to get to within one goal of tying. The Pacers would end up going ahead 9-6 at the end of the quarter.

The Pacer lead stood at 11-6 in the fourth quarter and were up 13-7 with 4:40 remaining. Randolph inched closer with a pair of scores but ran out of time as William Peace held on to the victory.

William Peace led in total shots 51-26 and groundballs 50-39.

Caldwell and Landis both scored twice. Tom Stahler (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) added one goal. Michael Baldwin (Culpepper, Va./Liberty) tallied two goals and an assist. Bruce Patterson (Fork Union, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) scored one goal. Callan had a three-point afternoon with one goal scored and two assists.

Colin Murphy (Cedar Park, Texas/Austin) had a team-high four caused turnovers. CJ Berry (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) caused three. Stahler picked up nine groundballs. Adam Ulffers (Greenville, N.C./J.H. Rose HS) had 22 saves in the cage.

Randolph will host Husson on March 6 at WildCat Stadium. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
