LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's swimming team hosted a tri-meet with Greensboro and William Peace on Saturday afternoon at the Bateman Aquatic Center. The WildCats outscored the Pride 148-21 and the Pacers 106-75.
Evan Shopbell won two events on the day for the WildCats. He placed first in the 400 IM with a final time of 4:27.47 which set a new program record. Shopbell also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.38.
Sam Hey (Black Mountain, N.C.) touched the wall first in the 1,650-yard freestyle with his final time of 20:55.60. He had a personal best time of 4:56.99 in the 400-yard IM to come in third overall. He was also second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:22.04.
Jackson Hunt took first in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.47. He came in second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.49.
Ben Hiss (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) came in second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.71. He also had a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with his time of 2:17.94 and a third-place result in the 200-yard breaststroke 2:34.38.
The WildCats will next compete at the Pacer Invitational on November 16-18.
