LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis hosted Southern Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights won by the score of 8-1.
The WildCats' lone point came at first singles where Lena Kersten (Bonn, Germany) battled the Knights' Paula Snelson. Snelson won the first set 6-3 while Kersten came back to win the second set 6-3. In the tiebreaker, Kersten outlasted Snelson 12-10 to take the set 1-0.
Asia Pham (Annandale, Va./Annandale) won four games in her fifth singles match against Grace Howell. Howell won the match 6-4, 6-0. Gianna Cabrera (Portsmouth, Va.) fell in her sixth singles match 6-4, 6-2 against Ella Dalby. Maddie Mills (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) claimed three games in her fourth singles match with Lia Savage. Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) fell to Jillian Arnold 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.
In doubles play, Kersten and Whetzel claimed three games at first doubles against the duo of Arnold and Snelson. Cabrera and Jagdeo took one game at third doubles against Howell and Savage.
