LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's swimming team hosted Hampden-Sydney in an ODAC meet on Friday evening at the Bateman Aquatic Center. The Tigers totaled 145 points to Randolph's 112 points.
Ben Hiss (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) won two events on the evening for the WildCats. He came in first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:55.63. He also placed first in the 200-yard IM with his time of 2:12.42.
Jackson Hunt came in first in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.52. Daniel Allee (Alexandria, Va./Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School) was right behind him with his time of 24.88. Bennett Goodman (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox County HS) placed fifth in 25.94.
Sam Hey (Black Mountain, N.C.) was the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:05.82.
The WildCats had a 3-4-5 finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Hiss was third (53.82), Hunt fourth (53.82), and Solomon Lewis (Forest, Va./Brookville) fifth (58.27).
The 200-yard medley relay team of Evan Shopbell, Hey, Hunt, and Allee had a thrilling finish in their event. The quartet was able to edge out Hampden-Sydney by .02 of a second with their time of 1:47.04.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Goodman, Lewis, Ethan Mayfield (Evington, Va./Brookville), and Hiss swam a collective time of 3:49.19 for second place.
The WildCats face Bridgewater next Friday. The start time for the meet is at 4:30 p.m.
