LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse hosted Shenandoah at a rainy WildCat Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Hornets defeated the WildCats by the score of 22-5.
Shenandoah scored the game's first four goals in the first quarter. Randolph was granted a free position opportunity with 8:53 remaining in the first period. Sophia Cirone (Stuart, Fla./South Fork) was able to convert the shot to get the WildCats on the scoreboard.
The Hornets led 14-2 at halftime. Randolph scored three more times in the second half with Cirone scoring the game's final goal with time expiring in the fourth quarter.
Cirone led the WildCats with three goals on the afternoon. She was 2-of-3 on free position shots. Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) and Cristina Berenguer Llongueras (Barcelona Spain) had one goal each.
Cabrera also had two caused turnovers as did Marcela Izquierdo Poza (Madrid, Spain/IES Julio Verne). Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) had a team-high five groundball pickups. She stopped 10 shots in the cage.
Randolph ends the season with a final overall record of 4-9 and 2-6 in the ODAC. The four wins are the most since 2014.
