Cochran Sets 10K Record at ODAC Championships

Tanner Cochran set a new Randolph record in the 10,000 meters

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's track and field team began competition on the first day of the ODAC Championships held at the campus of the University of Lynchburg on Friday.

One final saw a new school record set. Tanner Cochran (Cumberland, Va./Cumberland) came in ninth overall in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:22.76. That broke the previous record of 34:00.84 that he set last month.

In the preliminaries of the 400 meters, Tory Brown (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) ran a time of 50.07 seconds. Colby Lambert (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) finished in 51.93. Lambert had a time of 23.32 in the 200 meter prelims.

In field events, Brown had a leap of 5.62 meters in the Long Jump. Sha-Ron Bass (Greensboro, N.C./First Colonial) threw a distance of 33.13 meters in the Hammer Throw. He had a toss of 8.89 meters in the Shot Put.

The Championships conclude tomorrow.
