GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team traveled down to North Carolina on Sunday to face Guilford in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match. The Quakers topped the WildCats 6-3.
Randolph's record now stands at 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the ODAC. GC improves to 3-4 and 3-1 in the conference.
The WildCats won at #3 doubles. Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) and Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) defeated Nya Reed and Nilli Ocran 8-2.
In singles play, Zeinab Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) won at #4 6-0, 6-1 over Bea Niyibizi. Fink was a winner at #6 against Ocran 6-0, 1-6, 6-4.
Two other singles matches went to three sets. Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) lost a close match against Reed 6-3, 4-6, 4-6 at #5. Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela) also went three sets in her match with Madyson Schreiber at first singles. After claiming the first set 7-5, Santos fell 5-7, 3-6 in the next two.
Randolph is idle until March 28 when the team travels to Hilton Head, S.C for a pair of matches. The WildCats will play St. Olaf College and DePauw.
