Women’s Swimming Tops Ferrum and Pfeiffer

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team hosted its final meet of the season on Tuesday night as it competed against Ferrum and Pfeiffer. The WildCats bested both teams with scores of 126-47 and 120-63.

Ava Skinner (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) and Taylor Eshelman (Huntersville, N.C./Hopewell) led the way with three first place finishes for the WildCats. Skinner took first in the 50 yard breaststroke (36.39), 50 yard freestyle (28.94), and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:18.98). Eshelman touched the wall first in the 100 yard butterfly (1:12.24), 100 yard freestyle (1:03.09), and the 100 yard IM (1:11.48).

Eva Pontius (Lynchburg, Va.) had the fastest time in the 200 yard freestyle as she finished in 2:19.60. She swam a time of 34.28 in the 50 yard backstroke. She was second in the 100 yard backstroke with her time of 1:13.44.

Katie Scifres (Colorado Springs, Colo.) competed in the 1,650 yard freestyle. She finished first in a final time of 21:35.01. She also was first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:24.33. Scifres was third in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 33.79.

Kai Miller (Richmond, Va.) was second to Pontius in the 50 backstroke with her time of 38.80. She was the runner-up to Skinner in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 31.35. She followed Pontius in the 100 yard backstroke with a final time of 1:18.86.

The 200 yard freestyle relay was the final event of the evening. The team of Skinner, Scifres, Eshleman, and Pontius came out on top with a time of 1:57.37.

Randolph is idle until January 21 when it swims at Greensboro.
