LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team hosted Hollins on Friday evening at the Bateman Aquatic Center. The WildCats performed well against HU as they won 143-63.
Eva Pontius (Lynchburg, Va.) turned in three first place finishes on the night for the WildCats. She touched the wall first in the 1000 yard free with a time of 13:07.69. She was also first in the 50 yard backstroke in 36.28. Her third first place result came in the 100 yard backstroke with her time of 1:14.83 which was ahead of teammate Kai Miller's (Richmond, Va.) time of 1:22.58.
Ava Skinner (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) was the only swimmer in the 50 yard breaststroke and swam a time of 36.79. She touched the wall first in the 50 yard free as her time of 28.88 was ahead of Hollins' Abby Phillips. Skinner was nearly a full 10 seconds ahead of Madeline Freeman in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:21.64.
Katie Scifres (Colorado Springs, CO) took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:22.39. Her time of 6:20.05 in the 500 yard free was 24 seconds ahead of Hollins' Katherine Komarek.
Taylor Eshelman (Huntersville, N.C./Hopewell) swam solo in the 50 yard Butterfly and posted a time of 30.15. Her time of 1:13.70 in the 100 yard IM was just under eight seconds faster than Freeman. Eshelman swam a sub-one minute time of 59.56 in the 100 yard freestyle.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Pontius, Skinner, Eshelman, and Miller topped the Hollins squad with a time of 2:10.79.
Randolph will host a tri-meet next Friday against Bridgewater and Warren Wilson. The start time will be 5:30 p.m.
