First Years Lead For Women’s Swimming In Tri-Meet

LYNCHBURG,Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team hosted a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon against Virginia Wesleyan and St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Randolph's first years had a strong showing in their first individual events of the season. First Year Taylor Eshelman (Huntersville, N.C.) had the highest place on the day as she came in second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.76. She was also third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:20.39.

First Year Katie Scifres placed third in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:49.57. She was also fifth in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:48.53.

Eva Pontius (Lynchburg, Va.) was third in the 200 yard freestyle as she touched the wall in 2:20.57. Kai Miller (Richmond, Va.) came in seventh with a time of 2:30.51. Pontius was also third in the 500 yard freestyle with her final time of 6:12.88. Molly McNair (New South Wales, Austrailia) came in sixth with a time of 6:59.09.

One relay team competed on the day. The quad of Pontius, McNair, Hannah Cloven (Fredericksburg, Va.), and Miller swam a time of 2:12.08.

Randolph will host Gallaudet on Friday. The meet starts at 6:00 p.m.
