VIRGINIA BEACH, Va – The Randolph men's swimming team traveled to Virginia Beach to take on Virginia Wesleyan University in an ODAC dual meet on Saturday. The Marlins bested the Wildcats 127-61. Despite the team's loss, all active swimmers won at least one event.
Sam Hey won three events, besting all competitors in the 200 yard IM (2:07.96), the 50 yard breaststroke (30.96), and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.39).
Josh Roberts (Chesapeake, Va.) won the 500 yard freestyle in dramatic fashion, out-touching his opponent by 12 milliseconds, finishing with a time of 5:32.61. Roberts finished second in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 29.39. Roberts also came in second in the 100 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:01.98.
Daniel Allee (Alexandria, Va./Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School) won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.04. Allee swam the 50 yard butterfly in 26.46 and swam the 100 yard IM in a time of 1:04.33, both times good enough for a second place finish in each event.
The Wildcats host their lone meet of the season next Friday, January 21 against Ferrum College.
