LYNCHBURG. Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team hosted Pfieffer on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats took two matches but the Falcons ultimately prevailed 5-2.
Because of a shortage of available players, the teams did not play third doubles or sixth singles. In doubles play, Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Bhuvan Ambekallu (Karnataka, India/Bethany High) lost a close match to the duo of Alec Taylor and Benedikt Pfeiffer 8-7. Colby Cook (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) and Nicolas Alvarado (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) fell to Phillip Conaway and Dylan Masters 8-4.
Alvarado was a winner at first singles as he defeated Masters 6-2, 6-0. Kulvivat knocked off Taylor 6-2, 6-3 at second singles. Ambekallu lost to Pfeiffer 6-2, 6-3 at third singles. Cook dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match to Conaway at fourth singles. Ramiro Chavez-Montoya lost to Cale Phillips 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles.
The men return to action tomorrow after as they made the short trip across town to face Lynchburg. Start time of the match is 1:00 p.m.
