FERRUM, Va.- The Randolph men's tennis team faced Ferrum in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match on Sunday afternoon. The WildCats came away with their first conference victory of the season as they defeated the Panthers by the score of 5-4.
In doubles play, Nico Alvarado (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) and Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) easily defeated the pair of Patrick Marsh and Jacob Glass 8-0 at first doubles. Colby Cook (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) and Bhuvan Ambekallu (Karnataka, India/Bethany High) fought hard in their second doubles match against Jose Villacis and David Bishop and narrowly lost 9-8.
Randolph won all four singles matches. Alvarado was a 6-1, 6-0 victor over Villascis at first singles. Kulvivat won at second singles 6-1, 6-3 over Marsh. Ambekallu took down Glass 6-1, 6-1. The match-clinching point came from Cook at fourth singles as he defeated Dakota McDaniel 6-4, 6-2 for his first collegiate victory.
