Men’s Lax Drops ODAC Contest at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va.- The Randolph men's lacrosse team took on the Panthers of Ferrum in an Old Dominion Athletic conference game on Saturday evening at W.B. Adams Stadium. The Panthers defeated the WildCats by the score of 19-6.

FC got on the board first in just under a minute of game time in the first quarter. The Panthers led 3-0 until the 'Cats scored their first goal of the night with 38 seconds remaining in the period as Jake Helsey (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) assisted Jack Dolan (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) to make it 3-1.

The Panthers upped their lead to 4-1 just under the 13 minute mark of the second quarter. Dolan answered the call again with a solo score at 9:57. Ferrum then went on a four-goal burst to pull ahead 8-2 with under four minutes to play in the quarter. Sean Landis (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) cut the Ferrum lead to 8-3 but the Panthers got the goal back with 21 seconds remaining to go ahead 9-3 at the half.

In the third quarter, a penalty on the Panthers gave Randolph an extra-man opportunity. The WildCats would take advantage as Dolan scored his third goal of the night to close the score to 9-4. Ferrum scored three more times until Lee Tookes (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) scored with just five minutes left in the frame to make it 12-5.

The Panthers upped their advantage to double-digits in the fourth quarter. Landis scored Randolph's final goal of the evening at 3:15.

Dolan finished with three goals on 12 shots. Landis added two goals, Zach Miller (Louisa, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) tallied an assist and led the team with six groundballs. He was 11-of-23 on faceoffs. William Doyle (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate) had 14 saves in goal.

Randolph hosts Brevard this Tuesday at WildCat Stadium. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
